Concurrent fixed and random site potting surveys (80 sites, 6 pots/site) from 5 inshore and 2 offshore Banks Peninsula strata. Catch rates and size frequency are compared with 4 previous fixed site surveys, and comparisons made between survey designs. Otoliths were collected for age compositions, total mortality estimates, and spawner per recruit analyses. Concurrent video transects had an extremely poor relationship with observed density and subsequent pot catches of blue cod less than 30 cm.
