New Zealand freshwater research reportAbstract: This report describes surveys undertaken from October 1982 to December 1984 to assess the status of trout stocks in Lake Ruataniwha and the extent of recruitment from its main tributary, the upper Ohau River. The findings have provided, and will continue to provide, a baseline for further studies , and may help improve the management of trout fisheries in other newly formed hydro lakes.
