N2  - Preliminary investigations into the hydrodynamics of a wetland within the Waitangi forest receiving oxidation pond effluent from the town of Paihia are described, The results of a survey of the wetland system are detailed and the hydrodynamic implications discussed. Various approaches to modelling this wetland system are introduced and the results of some preliminary modelling exercises using a mode designed for simulating the hydrodynamics of open water systems are given. Recommendations on approaches to further these studies are also made. This work was done while the author was completing practical requirements for studies at the University of Wageningen (Netherlands). He was supervised for this study by J.G. Cooke and B.L. Williams at the Water Quality Centre
