Both the photographic survey (of scampi and burrows) and the trawl survey estimates show a trend of increasing abundance since 2009. Trawl survey catch rates and burrow estimates are over twice those of 2009, but remain below estimates from 2001. Over 6300 scampi were tagged and released to investigate growth and some animals have been recaptured by industry.
