The purpose of the trip is March and April 1988 was to attend the special session of the 1988 GMCC Annual Meeting entitled Future of the Stratosphere. The author presented a paper on related international activities on the theme of ground-based networks for the detection of stratospheric change. Evidence of ozone depletion is given and a proposal to establish a network of ground stations to measure stratospheric change is made. The data collected from these stations (Lauder being one) would be used to create a model to identify long term change.
