The project aimed to study igneous dykes in the igneous and metamorphic basement rocks at Lake Vanda and several other localities in the Dry Valleys area. The dykes of porphyry and older lamprophyre in the basement rocks were examined in detail in the Lake Vanda area where the dykes swarm is at its most dense and complex. The lamprophyres always precede the porphyries, which become more coarsely porphyritic with time (CMB)
