This is a report of installation and calibration work carried out at the magnetic observatories at Amberley and Apia from 1954 to 1958. H.E. Garlick carried out the survey work around the site at Amberley, and also constructed the auxiliary equipment, clamps, tools, etc., used in installing the variometers. V.B. Gerard designed and built the calibration boxes in current use. P.J. Gill executed the preparatory planning and calibration work at Apia. The author was assisted with the installation at different times by: P.J. Gill, V.B. Gerard, H.E. Garlick, H.F. Bhana. (auth)
