With the advent of new aircraft for the RNZAF, accurate calibration of the Doppler navigation equipment used in the aircraft will be necessary. A new calibration unit would be used in an area free from magnetic disturbance to check this equipment. Following a written request from RNZAF station, Whenuapai, magnetic surveys of existing hard-standing areas were carried out by the author during February and March 1965, to test selected sites that were considered might be suitable for use with this new calibration unit.
