Technical note / Geophysics Division
Measurements were made of the total magnetic force along a two-mile line extending from the coast of Ross Island in a southerly direction towards Mt Heine on White Island. Measuring points were spaced at 100 ft intervals and the results were later corrected for changes in the magnetic field, using the magnetograms from Scott Base. The resultant graph illustrates the magnetic gradient near the island and indicates the distance to be travelled before a normal regional figure is obtained. (auth)
