Sand dunes at Kawakaputa Bay show a vegetation sequence from marram grass to lupin scrub, to low forest of kamahi, fuchsia and podocarps, to manuka scrub then swamps around Lake George. Grazing of lupin should cease when short term grazing rights expire. Areas of scrub, low forest and swamp between the beach and Lake George should be reserves. (auth)
