Incomplete contents:
Plans by the Wallace County Council to augment the Tuatapere water supply from artesian wells located at the southern end of the Tuatapere Scenic Reserve will cause a drop in ground water table levels within a 500 m radius of the bores. The wells will be used when the Waiau River is discoloured, and continuously for less than 1 week. Ground water levels will return to normal within a few days of pumping ceasing. Soil moisture within the rooting zone of trees is not influenced by the water table. A twice yearly inspection by the local Reserves Ranger of the vegetation around the bore sites is recommended.
