This data logger was designed for experimental control and data recording purposes and is based on the 6800 microprocessor and its family of support devices. It may be operated from either a 230 V a.c. or 12 V d.c. supply and features a bus connected programmable real time clock, a VDU/printer interface, thumbwheel switches to select experiment control parameters, and analog and digital inputs/outputs. Data gathered is stored on standard cassette tapes for which two decks are provided. Software described in this manual relates to a specific optical experiment (Antarctic stratospheric trace gas measurement); however, the hardware architecture is such that it could be usefully employed in other areas with suitable reprogramming. The appendix describes program assembly and an 'EPROM programmmer' addition to the logger. (auth)
