The survey is an investigation into the potential of New Zealand rivers for recreation by motor launch, jet boat, raft, canoe, kyak, pack floating and swimming, and has been carried out by the New Zealand Canoeing Association. Part II contains the results for the North Island rivers and major lakes. Each river is described by location river mouth/confluence location, map reference, length, average gradient, recreation use, scenic description, scenic value and recreational value
