The landuse of farm forestry appears to be expanding as a compromise for the present conflict between agriculture and forestry. To date no overseas or NZ data has been collected on the effect of farm forestry on catchment hydrology. It is proposed that a further catchment be established at the Purukohukohu landuse basin to monitor the effects of farm forestry on pumice hydrology. This project would be jointly run by FRI, MAF and Water and Soil Division staff.
