A simple single-step numerical scheme is developed for the common problem of modelling advection, dispersion and assimilation of a pollutant in one-dimensional, steady, non-uniform river flow. Scheme accuracy is demonstrated theoretically and experimentally. Accuracy is maintained on very coarse grids.
