These areas are: Waitemata Harbour west of Herald Island, Coastal region between Milford and Browns Bay, Mahurangi River, Okahu Bay to Mission Bay, Tamaki River (upper portion), Pt. Chevalier Beach, Blockhouse Bay, Lake Pupuke, Whau River, Waiuku River, Hoteo River, Waiwera and Orewa Rivers. Unfortunately, due to staff shortages and financial restraints, completion of this study has been delayed form August 1976 and is now due to be presented to the Regional Water Board at its December meeting this year. The original aim of the study to intensively investigate 12 area has had to be modified because of the resource commitment to such an aim. B. Baseline monitoring of about 100 sampling sites to assess existing water quality. Volume 1 of this study was received by the Regional Water Board on 11 June 1976 and was widely circulated." -- Introductory letter.
